Aramark UK strikes gold at RoSPA awards

April 06, 2011

ARAMARK UK, the award-winning managed food service company, has achieved recognition at the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards for the 13th year running.

Whilst it is the 13th year ARAMARK UK has been recognised, this year is the first time ARAMARK Defence Services has been awarded a Gold Award, in recognition of its work completed over the past twelve months and the impact it has had on the company’s safety performance.  By implementing various initiatives designed to increase health and safety awareness across their staff members, the Defence Services team managed a successful reduction in incidents and loss in the workplace.

Neil Shroeder, Managing Director, ARAMARK Defence Services commented on the win:

“We are delighted to receive this recognition from RoSPA.  My senior team has been determined to drive greater awareness of safety at all levels of our business and we were so pleased with the response we received to our initiatives that we decided to submit an award entry to RoSPA.  None of us dreamed that the submission would result in a Gold Award and we now look forward to the challenge of building on this fantastic achievement.”

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), a safety charity, launched its awards programme 55 years ago. The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said:

“RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. ARAMARK Defence Services has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”
