Eleven BHA members celebrate success in World Travel Awards

We are proud to announce that eleven of our hotelier members were among nearly 200 properties to be recognised at the European heats of the World Travel Award 2011.

Held at the Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa in Antalya, Turkey, the winning hotels received awards following a ballot of 183,000 travel professionals in 160 countries.

As well as awards for individual hotels, London was also named as Europe’s Leading Destination, while InterContinental Hotels & Resorts was named Europe’s Leading Hotel Brand.

The UK winners included the five-star, 90-bedroom Dukes hotel in London, which carried off the title of England’s Leading Boutique Hotel. General manager Debrah Dhugga said she and her team were thrilled to win.

The Lanesborough, London – England’s Leading Hotel and UK’s Leading Hotel
Champneys Resort, Tring, Hertfordshire – England’s Leading Resort
Hilton Templepatrick Hotel and Country Club, Templepatrick – Northern Ireland’s Leading Business Hotel
Draycott Hotel, London – UK’s Leading Boutique Hotel
Ellenborough Park, Cheltenham – UK’s Leading Country Hotel and UK’s Leading Spa Hotel
Gleneagles Hotel, Auchterarder, Perthshire – UK’s Leading Resort
Sofitel London Heathrow – Europe’s Leading Airport Hotel

All the European winners will now go forward to the world finals, which will be held in Qatar on 29 November.
