The London Linen Group launches industry’s first eco friendly jacket!
September 22, 2011
The London Linen Group has launched EkoChef – the most innovative and sustainable chefs jacket for the hospitality industry.
Made from recycled bottles and waste polyester fibre, this new groundbreaking jacket has durability, quality and comfort accompanied by a low environmental impact.
It takes 25 two litre water bottles to make one jacket, saving 2.5kg CO2 per jacket compared to the bottles being disposed. There is an 80% reduction in energy in production alongside a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Extensive trials have led to extremely positive feedback. Alan Murchison, Executive Chef at L’Ortolan said: “I’m always looking for the most sustainable option – this is a tremendous way to recycle plastic bottles into a product that is useful and relevant.”
The EkoChef Jacket is exclusively available from The London Linen Group as standard, at no additional cost, as part of the hire and launder service. The group has 3 specialist divisions, specifically tailored to serving an individual sector of the market. The founding division London Linen Supply services the restaurant industry; London Workwear Rental supplies the casual dining and hotel market while The Caterers Linen Supply offers a service to contract caterers.
