Brief summary of Metropolitan Police’s program re. Hotel Security
June 19, 2012
The Special Taskings Team of the Met Police has started to offer their services to hotels to do Protective Security Testing, whereby the different security measures of the business are tested by covert police officers over a period of 2 -3 weeks. They checking many different aspects, e.g. general staff vigilance, access through back doors, luggage handling procedures, guest room security, access control, credit card fraud etc, etc. The testing also includes a covert stay in the hotel for one night. The objective of this initiative is mainly to get businesses to review their security procedures in a broad range of areas and to take necessary actions to improve before the Olympics.
The Langham was the first hotel to have this testing done and they have been visiting our premises covertly over the last 3 weeks (now finalised). We will receive a full confidential report shortly. This service was offered free of charge to us.
