The BHA is proud to announce that all 5 spas awarded:
- Rockliffe Hall Spa in Hurworth, County Durham

- Pennyhill Park, Surrey
- The Vineyard, Berkshire and
- Dormy House Hotel and Spa, Worcestershire are members of the association.
The Good Spa Guide is considered the expert guide to the best spas and treatments in the industry and all establishments must undergo an assessment process. The new award recognises spas that have shone under the spotlight of the expert assessment by the Good Spa Guide Spa Spies, looking at spectacular facilities, soothing and enriching treatments, award-winning cuisine to faultless customer service. The ‘5 Bubble Luxury’ spas have gone above and beyond to achieve spa excellence.
Following an extensive and thorough review by a mystery ‘Spa Spy’, the Good Spa Guide said that Rockliffe Hall demonstrated a “combination of luxury, good facilities and great treatments with a carefully designed spa journey and high standards of cleanliness.” The Spa Spy added that Rockliffe Hall was “the perfect ‘5 Bubble’ experience” and had “high service levels that will meet the most demanding of standards.” In addition, the Good Spa Guide recently sent one of its ‘Celebrity Spa Spies’ to Rockliffe Hall. Joanne Harris, the celebrated author of- amongst many others- Chocolat, which was made into an Oscar-nominated film, visited Rockliffe Hall and said that “the attention to detail was impressive” and the spa offered “blissful relaxation” while the treatments left her “wholly, marvellously relaxed.”
Daphne Metland, the Good Spa Guide founder, said: “Rockliffe Hall offers elegance, luxury and grandeur, with a high standard of service. The spa has a number of indulgent areas where you can relax, unwind and be utterly pampered. We love the spa butlers. You can order a healthy drink or indulge with a glass of champagne without leaving your poolside seat. Decadent luxury, of course, but well... you are worth it! Add in the high quality treatments and Rockliffe Hall is a perfect spa destination.” Speaking about receiving the 5 Bubble Luxury award, director of Rockliffe Hall’s spa, Liz Holmes, said: “This really is the highest accolade a spa could wish for. The Good Spa Guide is so rigorous in its testing of facilities, staff, treatments, spa journey and surroundings. Our team at Rockliffe works so hard to ensure the most impeccable yet relaxed service and to be recognised in this way makes us all so proud. It also guarantees that our guests can experience one of the most outstanding spas right on their door step, in the heart of the North East. ”
Spa manager at the Dormy House hotel Zoe Douglas said she was excited that House Spa was already receiving national recognition, despite having only launching six months ago “I am so proud of this award, which is a reflection of the hard work of the many people who created and work at House Spa,” she said. “Guests and members tell us that our spa is an oasis in their busy lives and we are thrilled that the Good Spa Guide has given us its very highest award.”
