The Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) and the Performing Rights Society for Music (PRS for Music) have just announced that their joint venture is about to be launched, in the form of a new company, PPL PRS Ltd.
The purpose of the joint venture is to simplify public performance licensing for customers, by covering the permissions needed from both PPL and PRS for Music in one transaction and a single combined licence, called ‘TheMusicLicence’.
PPL PRS Ltd will start to contact existing customers over the coming weeks with information about the move to TheMusicLicence. The actual transition to this new licence will take place as customers’ existing licences come up for renewal over the next 12 months. Our members will be contacted by the PPL PRS Ltd.’s team in Leicester, who will provide assistance with the transition.
Tariffs will continue to be negotiated separately by the PPL and PRS for Music, which have no immediate plans to consolidate tariffs.
As the joint venture gets underway further information will be available on the website and in newsletters.
