Passion 4 Hospitality?

untitledDo you have a passion for hospitality? Entries are now open for Passion 4 Hospitality 2015, the annual student networking event and competition created and organised by the Institute of Hospitality.

Passion 4 Hospitality 2015 will consist of a careers forum, speed networking, the ever-popular Live Debating Competition plus the Business Game Competition in which teams compete to manage a virtual hotel. Entries are now open for the Debating Competition for teams of students only. The Business Game Competition is open to students and industry professionals.

Participants must be individual members of the Institute of Hospitality or, if you are a student, must be studying at an educational institution that is registered with the Institute of Hospitality’s Education Membership Scheme. The deadline for entries is 1 December 2014.

Passion 4 Hospitality 2015 will take place on 19 March 2015 at a central London venue (to be confirmed).

The 2014 event saw the Bournemouth University team win both the Business Game Competition and the Hospitality Debating Competition, fighting off teams from Lucerne-based IMI University Centre Switzerland, Hotelschool The Hague, University College Birmingham and University Campus Suffolk.

Crispin Farbrother, Programme Leader for Hospitality in the School of Tourism at Bournemouth University, said: “The teams felt well prepared, but as the day went on the excitement was mixed with elements of tension as they appreciated the seriousness, competitiveness and quality of the other teams. Meeting the other team members was of value and the close finish did nothing but add to the experience of the day. Winning was fantastic for us and some of our students are already planning to return and defend their title in 2015.”

Working in partnership with arena4|finance and HOTS, the Business Game Competition Final will take place alongside the Debating Competition Final on 19 March 2015.

HOTS stands for Hotel, Operations, Tactics and Strategy and is a web-based business management simulation that challenges participants to manage a large hotel during a series of online heats, culminating in the final.
