Rockliffe Hall expands into London

Rockliffe Hall, in County Durham, is expanding its business development team by recruiting London-based experts to help it break into new markets.

As a premier meeting and events destination, Rockliffe Hall has an exceptional reputation for its business tourism thanks to a combination of outstanding facilities and service and its convenient location.

Managers at Rockliffe Hall have decided that the time is now right to take on specialists who can help the 5* resort to increase the volume of high profile businesses from London, and also around the world, using the North East as a meetings and events location.

The resort has appointed GP Associates, the leading UK sales representation company and experts in the field of luxurious hotels, to attract new clients.  GP Associates will work alongside Rockliffe Hall’s six-strong sales and marketing team. Based in central London, GP Associates delivers sales and marketing support for some of the world’s most prominent, independently-owned hotels, providing them with access to corporate events managers, conference agents and management companies responsible for organising high profile meetings and events at venues all over the world.

MD of Rockliffe Hall, Nick Holmes, explained: “Business tourism is the area in which we’ve seen a rapid growth in the last 12 months. More companies are opting to take their events out of London and they demand outstanding facilities and good transport links in a region that has a lot to offer- all of which the North East has. But our aim is to constantly break into new markets- both in London and worldwide. GP Associates will provide a valuable extension to our in-house team as we move forward with our expansion plans for 2014.”

Rockliffe Hall already attracts a varied range of corporate clients from not only all over the UK, but as far afield as the Middle East and the USA, with clients such Sabic, Samsung, EE, the Premier League, the FA, Coutts and Team GB and the US Ladies football teams who stayed at Rockliffe Hall ahead of their Olympic campaigns in London, to name just a few.

Research by Rockliffe Hall’s corporate events’ team shows that not only are more companies than ever choosing to bring their meetings and events out of London, but spend per head is also steadily increasing. Team-building activities are becoming more and more popular as businesses want to stand out from the crowd and offer their clients- and potential clients- an experience to remember.

Spa 4[4]

Corporate golf days on Rockliffe Hall’s championship course, wine tastings in The Orangery restaurant and spa treatments in the world-class spa have increased considerably in the last year and occupancy rates at the hotel regularly reach 100%, especially at weekends.

Rockliffe Hall is the current holder of the VisitEngland silver award for business tourism, having already clinched the title of ‘best in the region’ at the North East England Tourism Awards, and is the only resort in the North of England to be awarded the AA’s coveted five red stars, confirming its status as one of the best hotels in the UK, alongside well-known places such as Claridge’s in London, Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and Gleneagles in Perthshire.  The red stars are considered to be the highest award in the hospitality industry with only several properties each year receiving the accolade.

And to kick-start 2014, Rockliffe Hall received BDRC Continental VenueVerdict's Highly Commended Accreditation for delivering consistently outstanding customer experiences * and was ranked the eighth most luxurious hotel in the UK Travellers’ Choice Awards by Tripadvisor.
