Breaking news from the Cut Tourism VAT campaign
Whatever your idea of a fantastic holiday in the UK, it ought to be available at a fair price. This is why the BHA and our members are at the forefront of a campaign to champion a cut in VAT on tourism to 5% so visitor accommodation and attractions aren’t priced out of the market by their European competitors.
We have achieved a major breakthrough. The biggest UK daily newspaper, The Sun has decided to back the Cut Tourism Vat campaign. Starting today, The Sun is running a series of significant features, along the same lines as their infamous Pasty Tax push back in 2012. They’ve agreed on the title ‘Give us a Break’ . The campaign will highlight large and small hospitality and attraction providers from up and down the country setting out how they’d benefit. They will challenge the Government to give us all a break on tourism VAT, pointing out how we compare with Europe.
