The hopes, fears – and vision – of three of the hospitality and tourism industry’s top bosses will be revealed at this year’s BHA Summit on June 6; two days before the election.
Duncan Garrood CEO of Punch Taverns, Peter Gowers, CEO of Travelodge and Toby Smith, CEO of Novus will be interviewed by Ben Twynam, European Head of Leisure & Hospitality, of Heidrick & Struggles.
Twynam compiles Heidrick & Struggles annual hospitality CEO report to which over 60 leisure, hospitality and tourism leaders contribute and which will be published before The Summit. He said: “The results of our interviews are illuminating, reflecting some CEOs’ uncertainty and others’ positivity as Brexit approaches. At The Summit it will be fascinating to hear three leaders from three very different sectors of the industry say what they think.”
That session is one of many. Ufi Ibrahim, the chief executive of the BHA said: “The Summit will take a critical overview of the entire industry at what is a pivotal moment for us all. We will be exploring the links between business, government, the media and the community at large – all of whom have a stake in what we do. It is important that we speak with one voice to make sure that our industry, which employs over 4.5 million people and is a vital part of the economy, is heard.”
The timing of the event, being held at the Grand Connaught Rooms, is recognised. The speakers include Ed Balls, the politician and Strictly contestant, and Steve Richards, the political commentator and broadcaster renowned for his Rock ‘n Roll politics events.
