It is estimated that as many as 16 million people nationally have no savings to fall back on*. This means that if a sudden accident or illness were to occur, they could be put under dire financial pressure and quickly pushed into debt.
To guard its hospitality member businesses and their employees against this danger, UKHospitality – the culmination of The ALMR and British Hospitality Association merger – has partnered with PG Mutual, a not-for-profit membership organisation specialising in income protection.
PG Mutual was created in 1928 by pharmacists, for pharmacists. Each member of the Society contributed to a central “pot”, so that, if any member were to fall ill or have an accident, they would have money to support themselves and their families. Since 2014, PG Mutual has offered protection plans to anyone in work.
Through this partnership, UKHospitality’s 65,000 member venues will benefit from a 20% discount off the first two years’ premium of the Income Protection Plus Plan, which will pay a regular income if they are unable to work due to illness or injury.
Kate Nicholls, Chief Executive-elect of UKHospitality said: “UKHospitality is dedicated to offering great partnership deals to our members and is delighted to have PG Mutual on board as a partner who can offer that peace of mind should you fall ill or sustain an injury.”
Mike Perry, PG Mutual’s Chief Executive said: “At PG Mutual we are always looking for ways to introduce our services to more people and to also work with other companies. We are therefore delighted to be in partnership with UKHospitality and look forward to working closely with them and protecting their members.”
