Ian attended Birmingham College of Food between 1973 and 1976, he spent 5 years with the Savoy Group at Claridge’s with a stage at the Hotel du Rhone in Geneva in 1979.
He has worked for Chewton Glen (Asst Manager), The Royal Lancaster (House, C&B, F&B), and the Institute of Directors (IoD) with stints in contract catering with Sodexo and Compass. His career to date has spanned a broad cross section of the Hospitality Industry.
As Director of Hospitality & Premises at the IoD he overhauled hospitality operations, spear heading the reverse outsourcing of the catering contract. He moved to The Caledonian Club in September 2008 as Club Secretary and CEO.
He has been involvement in Springboard UK on the London Advisory Board and with People 1st as an "Industry Expert" on the development panel of the 14-19 Hospitality Diploma. He is a mentor on the Savoy Society Mentoring Scheme and the current Chairman of the Association of London Clubs.
