Willie Macleod has been the Executive Director for Scotland for over four years. He is a graduate of Strathclyde University’s Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management and studied tourism marketing, planning and development at the University of Surrey. He has a lifelong career in hospitality and tourism spanning hotel operations and general management with Forte and independent companies, international consultancy, senior roles with VisitScotland and, more recently, non-executive positions in hospitality, heritage, arts and tourism organisations.
In addition to his role with BHA, he is currently chair of the Trust which runs the UNESCO World Heritage Site at New Lanark (which has subsidiary businesses including a visitor centre, catering outlets, a 38 bedroom hotel, self-catering accommodation and a hostel). He also chairs Lennoxlove House Limited, until recently an exclusive-use event and conference venue. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Hospitality and the Tourism Society.
