Rothay Garden Hotel
If you are searching for Grasmere hotels or Lake District Hotels, consider Rothay Garden, no ordinary Lakeland Hotel. We are one of the finest luxury Lake District hotels and the newest contemporary four star hotel in Cumbria. The hotel is situated on the edge of picturesque Grasmere village, nestling in two acres of classic Lake District riverside gardens, surrounded by the majestic Lakeland fells.
Following a major £3 million redevelopment in 2008, Rothay Garden has again in the winter of 2010/11, embarked upon further major investment. This has seen the upgrading of our ground floor bedrooms on the garden and riverside by the addition of sun lounges, with the corresponding bedrooms above gaining balconies. Also, by Easter a stunning new restaurant and small but delightful Riverside Spa will open. This will ensure we remain one of the highest rated of all hotels in Grasmere and Ambleside, challenging the very best luxury Lake District hotels. The hotel now boasts 30 beautiful bedrooms, including five loft suites, six riverside suites and 2 garden suites, a stunning new conservatory restaurant overlooking our gardens, boasting 2 AA rosettes, chic lounges and bar and of course, our new Riverside Spa. These facilities, together with our renowned personal yet attentive service, combine to ensure you have the Lake District short break or holiday which you deserve.
Just outside our Grasmere hotel, the renowned Lake District awaits you – Grasmere really is the ‘jewel of the Lakes’ and Rothay Garden is the most centrally situated of the Lake District boutique hotels for the Ambleside, Windermere and Keswick area.

Great Food & Wine
Unlike a traditional hotel restaurant, the two-rosette Conservatory Restaurant at Rothay Garden is an attraction in its own right, with its contemporary furniture, clean elegant lines and great views overlooking the hotel’s two acres of gardens. The hotel’s kitchens are managed by Head Chef Andrew Burton, who has been at the hotel with Chris Carss for 20 years and is one of only 300 Masterchefs of Great Britain.
With many years experience gained at the Berkeley, Connaught and Savoy in London and Gleneagles in Scotland, Andrew and his talented team maintain Rothay Garden’s excellent reputation for quality food, professional service and great value. Dishes are prepared using the freshest of regionally sourced produce, and Andrew is proud of his unrivalled network of dependable and reliable local suppliers.
