The Heart of Hospitality and Tourism

The BHA ‘The Heart of Hospitality & Tourism’ Programme

The British Hospitality Association (BHA) and ITN Productions are continuing their communications relationship to produce a news and current affairs-style programme to explore the role and value of hospitality and tourism in the UK economy. The film looks at how the UK positions itself as a benchmark for excellence in hospitality and tourism.

The programme investigates ways for the sector to become more sustainable and profitable, whilst strengthening ties between the industry and government. It continues to examine the regulatory and financial challenges faced by the hospitality industry. The news-style piece combines key industry interviews and news reports with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations in the sector.

‘The Heart of Hospitality & Tourism’ was premiered at The Hospitality & Tourism Summit on Tuesday 30th June 2015, hosted by Accor at the Novotel London West. The programme is also part of an extensive online communications campaign which includes BHA members as well as journalists, writers and bloggers across the sector.

Ufi Ibrahim, Chief Executive, BHA said: “The hospitality and tourism industry has been singled out by government ministers for its ‘sharp focus’ on job generation and it’s a little known fact that our sector accounted for one third of all new jobs created between 2010 and 2012. This growth will move hospitality into the top three biggest employers in Britain, and with 44% of hospitality employees under the age of 30 it’s fair to say that this sector is the future. We look forward to creating an inspiring new programme which will showcase our work and inspire future generations.”

ITN Productions’ UK Director of Programming, Simon Shelley said:We’re excited to continue our programming partnership with the British Hospitality Association to chart the growth of this sector that provides so many jobs as well as economic benefits for the UK.”
