This week we are preparing for the next couple of Big Hospitality Conversation events. First one is in London on the 9th October focusing on the restaurants shortly followed by next event in the Bath area.
Both are really taking shape and are looking to be great events. We are expecting 160 people at the BMA House for the restaurant sector, with over 60 young people attending, who are currently looking for a work placement, apprenticeship or direct employment. From our previous Big Hospitality Conversation events we know that all these young people stand a good chance of getting interviews for opportunities that are created by the employers who pledge on the day.
Lots of the feedback from the young people at the event is always positive – they have the opportunity to talk directly to the business leaders, something that is once in a life time opportunity. Imagine being 18 again and looking for your first job and your sitting on a table with Robin Rowland from Yo!Sushi, this is very powerful for them. It is also very powerful for the business leaders, who tell us that it’s hard to imagine what it is like being a young and unemployed again. This is what the Big Hospitality Conversations are so good at - bringing these two worlds together. This is really making a difference to people’s lives and makes a difference to the way businesses operate and attract talent that is so desperately needed.
We hope to see you next week in London or the following week in Bath – or maybe at a future Big Hospitality Conversation, watch this space as one will be coming to a city near you soon.
