The much delayed Elliot review into the integrity and assurance of food supply networks, commissioned by the Departments of Health, and Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has finally been published with a number of key recommendations including:
- A new food crime unit
- An intelligence hub for sharing information between industry and FSA
- Improved coordination across the EU Governments in preventing food fraud,
- BHA to develop guidance for food service businesses on the prevention of food fraud, This will be included in the Industry Guide to Good Hygiene Practice which is currently being developed by the Food Experts Group.
We have welcomed the findings of the review which we will look forward to working with the FSA on its implementation
