In 1985, Travelodge opened the UK’s very first budget hotel on the A38, in Barton under Needlewood. Today the company is the country’s fastest growing and most innovative hotel chain with over 500 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain.

Travelodge is the largest hotel brand in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Cambridge. Around 80% of Travelodge hotels are now located in major city centres, towns and popular holiday hotspots. The Travelodge brand has a range of hotel designs including: purpose built hotels, grade ll listed buildings, office conversions, acquisitions of existing hotels and co-partnerships with leading pub companies, supermarkets and retailers.
This year Travelodge will open 41 hotels and create 1,000 new jobs across the UK. Twelve of the 41 new Travelodge’s opening this year are located in London – further cementing the Company’s position as the biggest hotelier in the Capital. Included in these openings is Travelodge’s 500th hotel at Stratford, near to the Olympic Stadium, Greenwich, Excel, Teddington, Crystal Palace, Sidcup and Enfield. In addition to these openings Travelodge is also opening further hotels in key British cities this year. Locations include: Edinburgh, Liverpool, Chester, Sunderland and Bradford.
