Our insurance partner, NFU Mutual, has today published its Food Hygiene Ratings Report, providing hospitality business owners with insight into the potential impact of future legislation for compulsory display of food hygiene ratings.
The report, which also includes advice to be used when an inspector calls, reveals that 44% of people would turn away from even their favourite places to eat and try somewhere else instead if a food hygiene rating of less than four out of five was on display. This could affect 43,000 restaurants, hotels, takeaways, cafés, pubs and other food businesses in England. The NFU Mutual report also found that a law for compulsory display of rating stickers in England and Scotland has gained the support of consumers, with 88% in favour and 66% strongly so.
