Commenting on cybercrime Ufi Ibrahim, Chief Executive of the BHA, said:
“There are over 200,000 hospitality and tourism businesses operating in the UK and 97% of these are SMEs employing fewer than 50 people. Operating in today’s highly volatile and uncertain environment, these SMEs are having to keep pace with constant change in one of the most competitive international markets in the world. These SMEs are resource and time poor, and therefore need support to protect them against threats such as cybercrime. Over the coming months BHA will be working with a cyber-security specialist to ensure members have up-to-date information as internet fraud of all types is becoming more sophisticated. We are determined to work with our members to advise how best to invest in security and will be doing everything possible to help businesses which are affected”.
