Miles Pooley attended Westminster College in London from 1982-1984 and studied Hotel Management. Upon leaving College, he joined The Connaught Hotel on a management training programme for five years which included a one year experience in Switzerland working at a ‘leading hotel of the world’. Upon returning to the UK Miles then commenced his first management position at The Connaught in 1989 as Assistant Reception Manager, a post he fulfilled for four years.
In 1993 Miles was appointed Manager at Gravetye Manor in West Sussex (An 18 bedroom Elizabethan Manor house) before returning to London in 1996 to take up the position of General Manager at The Oriental Club in Stratford Place. In 2000 he was appointed General Manager at 47 Park Street, initially under the management of Accor Hotels and then in 2002 and for a further four years with Marriott within the division of Marriott Vacation Club International. In 2006 Miles transferred to The Marriott Hotel Park Lane in the position of General Manager where he remained for 8 years.
In 2015, Miles returned to Club land to take up the position of CEO and Club Secretary at the Royal Air Force Club in Piccadilly. A private members’ Club with 24,000 Members, Miles continues to meet his challenges head on whilst taking this property to the next level of service for Serving and Retired Officers of the Royal Air Force.
Miles continues to enjoy his links with helping students within the industry and continues to work with the Savoy Society on their mentoring scheme.
Miles is a Master Innholder and Freeman of the City of London.
