Calum Ross has been involved with the Hospitality and Tourism Industry for the whole of his career. In 2008 he
left the corporate world and bought the iconic Loch Melfort Hotel on the West Coast of Scotland, with his wife
Rachel. In April 2013, Calum and Rachel won the coveted ‘Scottish Hoteliers of the Year Award’.
Calum has always been a passionate supporter of the Hospitality Industry and gives a substantial amount of
time to external appointments. In September 2013 he became a member of the board of Visit Scotland and is
currently Chairman, British Hospitality Association (BHA) Scotland, Director of BHA UK and is a Director of the
Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA) and a member of the national Tourism Leadership Group. Calum is also Vice-
Chairman of Argyll & the Isles Tourism Co-operative Ltd, Vice-Chair of the Oban and Lorn Tourism Association
and Chairman of the Arduaine Garden Support Group which he founded.
Prior to 2008, Calum was employed in food & beverage supply to the industry. Starting as a salesman in
Scotland, he went on to gain considerable international experience, the last decade of which was at board level,
spanning roles from Divisional Director, Managing Director UK (with European Customer Development and
Marketing responsibilities) to Chief Operating Officer, Unilever Foodsolutions, Latin America. During this time
Calum sat on the boards of Unilever UK, Unilever Foodsolutions Europe and Unilever Foodsolutions Global.
Calum was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality in 2008 and won a Hospitality Industry Trust
Leadership Scholarship to Cornell University in January 2012.
